Join William and Colleen on this one-day event in Taniai Village, the birthplace of Usui Sensei. Lena Takahashi is organizing this event for our group to travel together to Taniai Village and visit the Amataka Shrine where we will join the Shinto Priest in a honoring ceremony. 100 years ago, in April 1923, Usui Sensei and his brothers donated the Torii gate to the shrine in honor of the gifts he received by growing up in his village. He believed the gift of Reiki he received was due to his childhood in this small Japanese Village in the mountains. The waters running through the village were the source of his family’s success. The Torii gate was refurbished by the Amataka Shrine in 2021 in preparation for its 100-year anniversary this April 2023. The Usui Memorial, placed by Hiroshi Doi sensei in a ceremony William attended in 2018, is also next to the shrine. After the ceremony, we will go together by bus to lunch and join the Taniai Reiki Organization for a Reiki Share.

This is a separate event from the Reiki classes you are attending on Mt. Kurama. The event is between the two classes and is on April 15th. Some of you will have attended the Reiki Master class and will have checked out of Kuramasou, others will be arriving in Japan for the Karuna Reiki Master class and will check in to Kuramsou on April 16th. It is not possible to stay in Kuramasou, the Ryokan Inn, in between the classes. For those wishing to attend the Taniai Village event, you will need to either stay in Kyoto or elsewhere and join us on April 15th to travel together to Taniai Village for the day.

A chartered bus will meet us at the Gifu Hashima Train Station, so you will need to be at the station by 8:30am on April 15th to travel with us as a group to Taniai Village. We will join the Priest in ceremony, visit the Amataka Shrine, Torii gate and Usui Memorial. We will then go to lunch and Reiki Share with the Taniai Reiki Organization. The bus will take us all back to the Kyoto Train Station in the evening and we will each go to our own destination.

Lena Takahashi is making all of the arrangements. Please email Lena to register at holyfire_japan@healinglandreiki.com.  She can answer any questions you have regarding this event. She is working directly with the Taniai Reiki Organization to provide us with this very special day.

The event fee includes the chartered bus from Gifu Hashima to Taniai, the day’s events, all gift offerings for the Shrine and Taniai Reiki Organization, lunch and bus back to the Kyoto Station at the end of the day. The event cost does not include travel expenses to the Gifu Hashima Train Station.

We will meet at the Gifu Hashima Train station by 8:30am on April 15th. Students must make their own travel arrangements to the Gifu Hashima Train Station by 8:30am on April 15th. If staying in Kyoto, the Kyoto Shinkansen (hi-speed train) goes to the Gifu Hashima Train station. For those staying in Kyoto, we recommend you travel on the Shinkansen (hi-speed train) from the Kyoto Station to the Gifu Hashima Train Station the morning of April 15th. The cost for this train is approximately $50.00. The chartered bus will take us all back to the Kyoto Train station at the end of the day.

Important Note: The chartered buses to Taniai will not have room for luggage. You must leave your luggage in your hotel room or wherever you are staying.
