Mother Teresa and Compassionate Action

by Laurelle Gaia

In early February, I awoke to a record snowfall here in Louisville, Kentucky. It was beautiful and a bit of a novelty for us to be snowed in for several hours. However, I was scheduled to begin teaching a Karuna Reiki® class that morning. The roads were closed and I had people from out of town snowed in waiting for class. It was nice though, the normal pre-class rush that often takes place on the first day, just didn't happen. I was able to enjoy the morning so fully. Soon the sun came out, and we were able to start class in the early afternoon. Little did we know that the purity and peace that the snow brought with it, was a prelude to the great blessing we were to receive.

This was an interesting class in many ways, but an especially wonderful thing happened for our group. Over the course of three days we became gradually aware of a beautiful energetic presence. It was a new Master energy we hadn't felt before. It was a feminine energy, very soft, extremely compassionate, yet very focused and powerful. At first she appeared as simply a sentient experience. Then a most radiant, shimmering, pale blue light began to form. Soon we became aware that this was the compassionate presence of Mother Teresa.

This awareness brought tears to my eyes, and a deep feeling of humility and gratitude. I have admired Mother Teresa for many years, and have borrowed some of her quotes to help motivate myself and others. One of my favorites is:

"There is a Light in this world...a healing spirit much stronger than any darkness we may encounter. We sometimes lose sight of this force...where there is suffering, too much pain. And suddenly the spirit will emerge... through the lives of ordinary people and answer in extraordinary ways."

Since the class I have prayed and meditated about this, as it seemed to soon after her transition to experience Mother Teresa’s energy in this way. However, others who have experience with Karuna Reiki® are suddenly reporting sensing her presence in their work. I shared our experience with William and he reminded me that she had made her transition during our Karuna Reiki® retreat in Michigan last September, and that he had seen her standing with Jesus.

In my meditations she is asking that we keep working to unite the Reiki community, that we focus on our mission of expressing our compassion through action. That is what she tried to teach us. Having compassion is the first step, but taking action on that compassion is another story. Karuna means Compassionate Action.

Many ascended master energies work to help each of us heal, and to align with our individual Divine purposes, and begin to act on them.

One thing that Karuna Reiki® has done for me personally, and very consistently, is increase my awareness of the spiritual guidance available to me for my work and my life. I am now guided by Master energies that I had never been aware of before, they help in many ways.

When we use the very fine vibrational frequencies associated with Karuna Reiki® , we increase our personal vibration so that we can hold higher frequencies of light for longer periods of time. This makes it easier for spiritual energies that exist at even higher levels to reach us and communicate ways we can work to help end suffering on our planet.

Karuna Reiki® Masters are aligning with other healing practitioners and networking to focus healing energy on world crisis situations. The Karuna Reiki® system contains within it symbols to help us access frequencies to increase the vibration of peace on the planet, and to assist the Earth in her healing.

Many people have asked me why we need another energy system like Karuna Reiki® when Usui Reiki is so wonderful. My response is: we continue to need higher and higher frequencies of energy, as our species evolves. We live in a limitless Universe, the healing power of God's love knows no boundaries. As long as there is suffering among people and our environment is toxic, we must be open to all the healing gifts available to us.

Mother Teresa's guidance has inspired me to expand my free clinic services, find new ways to share my peace work and to find ways to make Reiki and healing accessible to more people. As long as I am receiving guidance regarding more ways to share love with those in need, I shall listen and I will act upon the guidance which feels right within my heart.

Please take a moment to read a few more thought provoking quotations from Mother Teresa:

"In the developed countries there is a poverty of intimacy, a poverty of spirit, of loneliness, of lack of love. There is no greater sickness in the world today than that one."

"Calcutta can be found all over the world, if you have eyes to see."

"You will be surprised to know that in the poorest neighborhoods in many of the cities where we live and work, when we get close to the people who live in shacks, the first thing they ask for is not bread or clothes, even though often they are dying of hunger and are naked. They ask us to teach them the Word of God. People are hungry for God."

"When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed."

I hope some of these words of wisdom touch your heart as they have mine. Mother Teresa made a powerful, positive impact on millions of people in her life. She did this by acting on a call to service she heard those many years ago. She answered that call and walked her path, with much love, offering acts of kindness to those most in need. Each of us has a purpose for being on this planet, when we know that purpose we have the opportunity to manifest it. I wish you peace and many blessings as you walk in beauty on your path. Shine your light brightly and you will know the way.
