Reiki for Lovers

by Ellen Louise Kahne

When I first began to study Reiki, I was amazed by the couples who came to my teacher’s classes to review. There seemed to be a special rapport present between those who had studied Reiki setting them apart from "ordinary" couples. One reviewer would look across the room at his or her partner and the partner would feel the energy on his or her back and turn to see what the other wanted.

There were a number of these couples and I observed that they were not only attuned to Reiki but in tune, spiritually, mentally and physically with one another. I remember thinking it unusual to see so much harmony, balance and spiritual centeredness amongst so many "bonded pairs."

I was curious to discover how the Reiki had enhanced these relationships and how Reiki could be used to create and enhance closeness in love relationships. I began to ask questions of my Reiki teacher on this subject and she told me that she stayed in touch with her husband, when teaching far from home by sending Reiki to him daily. Also, she made it a practice to demonstrate distance healing by sending Reiki to her spouse in most of her classes.

This was a very focused shared intimacy that was beyond my previous experience and beyond words. The communication between partners was continually being balanced and sustained by a higher frequency vibrational level. It was as if an audio engineer had filtered out all of the extraneous scratches and noise and remastered a classic recording.

This is not to say that every relationship which comes to Reiki bonds more closely. Reiki is Spiritually guided energy with a purpose which isn’t bound by our limited vision or agendas. Reiki works for the best and highest good of the individuals in any partnership and it may facilitate a peaceful separation, if that is necessary for the growth of the partners, or if the relationship has not been a healthy one. Reiki is the energy of dynamic growth, not of stagnation. In most of the couples I observed, Reiki attunements enhanced the relationship and the relationships around them. Unruly or troubled children came into balance in proximity to the balance of their Reiki trained parents, even healing addictive behaviors. Reiki deepens the physical love relationship of couples. When partners touch, holy love enriches the love each has for the other. Also, each touch contains the recognition of a shared Truth. That Truth is a recognition of the Divine in one person which mirrors the Divine in the other, as both are one.

As a couple grows in Reiki, the relationship also grows. This effect is enhanced by sending Reiki to the relationship, as one would send to a situation. A Reiki Master trained to perform healing attunements and psychic surgery (in Advanced Reiki Training) is empowered to send energy to the relationship and to clear negative vibrations, as if working on a person.

A very effective tool to facilitate harmony is to make a special Karuna crystal grid for the relationship. The crystals can be charged with Reiki to send continual energy, boosting the vibration of the partners and healing their karma individually and as a couple.
