ICRT Licensed Reiki Master Teacher Program
Please note that the ICRT is an accrediting body and membership organization. Our Licensed Reiki Master Teachers (LRMTs) are licensed to use our name and our logo as an indication that they are members of our membership association. They are not employed by the ICRT and teach their classes as independent business people responsible for scheduling their own classes, collecting class fees, and setting up class locations etc.
Our Licensed Reiki Master Teacher Training Program is a 1,000-hour advanced curriculum of study that takes about 3 years to complete. These are the main requirements to complete before applying to the program:
Once you have been accepted into the program you will be assigned a mentor teacher who will guide you through the program. Once in the program you must review and co-teach each class with your mentor starting with Reiki I&II, then ART/Master and finally Karuna Reiki®. The class review is done as preparation for your co-teach and is done within 6 months of the co-teach. This process usually takes about three years to complete.
Once in the program, you must also take a written examination, pass a psychological test and write a paper. You will also be required to document a minimum of 100 complete Reiki treatments after you are in the program.
The advantages of our program are that the increased study will improve your ability as a Reiki teacher, helping you to be more confident and professional in your presentation. Because of this you will produce better students who will be inspired to use Reiki to help family and friends, start professional Reiki businesses and be able to go on to become teachers themselves. Because of this, you will be contributing to the betterment of our planet in a meaningful way. In addition, you will be associated with an International Reiki organization and be able to advertise your classes in the Reiki News Magazine and on our web site. The feeling of support and camaraderie this will bring to you is also a wonderful experience. However, the bottom line result is that most teachers find they have at least doubled the number of students attending their classes after completing our program.
Our licensing program does not provide state or government licensing. In our program, you become licensed to represent the Center and to use our name - The International Center for Reiki Training and our logo in advertising, business cards, on your web site or in other locations associated with your Reiki practice. (*)
To maintain your license, you must review classes at least once a year and turn in class reviews from each student in classes you teach. As upgrades come along for our Reiki class programs, you must be willing to take them. Also, you must agree to support the Center Philosophy and Purpose and the Reiki Ideals and agree to be working on your own personal healing.
You must also agree to abide by our code of ethics and minimum teaching standards. These high standards allow our LRMTs to provide quality Reiki training that is consistent and verifiable. Our high standards have also helped us become qualified to offer Contact Hours for nurses, marriage and family counselors, and social workers and for massage therapy through NCBTMB to students who take our classes. In addition, our high standards provide the basis for our plans to interface with the medical community including working in hospitals and doctor’s offices.
Please note that all Center classes are taught by LRMTs who are independent business people. All class fees are paid to the teacher and are not paid to the ICRT.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I have to take all my classes from a LRMT? I already have training from another school.
A. Yes. This is because our teachers are required to teach the ICRT program. The only way to learn how to teach our program is by attending our classes.
Q. Will you make exceptions for teachers who have a lot of experience?
A. We cannot make exceptions to any of our program requirements. This is because we offer CEs and CEUs to professionals. This accreditation requires us to assure the associations who offer credits that all of our teachers have identical training. Our ability to maintain our CE/CEU provider status depends on this. However, we do value your previous training.
Q. How many applicants are accepted each year?
A. We are currently accepting 5 new applicants a year.
Q. Will there be someone to help me through the program?
A. Yes, you will have a mentor/teacher, and you will also receive assistance from our Program Director and Administrator. We are here to help you.
