The Reiki News Magazine
We are happy to announce that the first issue of the hardcopy
Reiki News magazine is now available! We published our first
newsletter in 1989 and have continually made improvements. Launching
our magazine is a goal we have contemplated for a long time
and are excited that it has finally arrived.
We know that Reiki can make an important difference in creating
a healthy and peaceful world. By spreading the word about Reiki
and by providing quality information that serves the Reiki community,
our purpose is to help people use Reiki to create a world where
everyone wins.
The magazine is based on our former 40 page quarterly newsletter,
but has been upgraded to include a glossy cover and to contain
more articles and information.
In this first issue we have put together a wonderful collection
of articles and stories. Our cover article on the Usui Memorial
gives you the text from the inscription written by Dr. Usui's
students just after his transition and includes information
about his life, and the discovery and development of Usui Reiki.
The article on creating a Reiki class will inform you about
what to do and inspire you to go ahead and teach. Reiki and
Tai Chi, written by a M.D. will show you how these two traditions
can work together. Our Reiki Stories section will be a regular
feature and provides miraculous examples of the healing and
life transforming benefits of Reiki.
We honor all lineages and schools and will focus on allowing
the magazine to continually evolve according to the needs of
the Reiki community. With this in mind we will be featuring
articles from well known Reiki authors and teachers as well
as Reiki practitioners with important information or a story
to tell. We currently have commitments from Arjava Petter, Walter
Lübeck, Mari Hall, Diane Shewmaker, Hyakuten Inamoto and
others and plan to present the most informative, useful and
inspirational information available in the Reiki world today.
I am sure you will find this magazine valuable and be excited
about the inspiration it provides for your own healing and the
development of your Reiki practice. We intend to keep the magazine
fresh and exciting and would like your help. Please let me know
about any ideas or suggestions you may have about specific articles,
features or other content that you think would be helpful additions.

Blessed By Spiritual Beings

Reiki can by used to develop and strengthen your
connection to spiritual beings. This can be a very positive
and helpful experience especially when you choose an enlightened
being or work directly with God. In fact, for the most part,
I suggest when using this technique, you focus on only connecting
with enlightened beings or with God as these level of beings
are the most trustworthy and can provide the greatest help.
By enlightened beings, I am referring to those who are one with
God, free of all ego and filled with compassion and wisdom.
These include Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, the Holy Spirit, the
Archangels, Quan Yin, Krishna, Buddha, and others. Also, when
I refer to God, I am not referring to a male or female God,
but to the One Supreme Being who is beyond male/female, yin/yang
etc.
These beings can help you heal more quickly, provide
guidance, improve your life in many ways and also improve your
abilities as a healer. They can join with you when you give
Reiki treatments and increase the benefit you provide to your
clients and also help you when you teach Reiki classes and give
attunements.
This is a simple, yet powerful technique that
can be done as a meditation. First decide which spiritual being
you would like to work with. Choose one you are familiar with
or feel guided to work with. If you are unfamiliar with enlightened
beings, I suggest doing some reading about any of those mentioned
above or any others you discover in your research. If you have
any trouble deciding, I suggest you simply choose to work directly
with God.
Once you have a spiritual being in mind, sit in
a quiet place and say a prayer to the being asking to be more
strongly connected with them and to receive their blessings.
The use of a picture of the being can be helpful also. Then
draw out the Reiki distant symbol along with any other symbols
you are guided to use such as the master symbol and begin sending
Reiki to them. As you do so, continue to pray asking that your
connection become stronger and stronger. You can also pray for
guidance for any project or issue you need help with, ask that
your skill as a healer be improved and that your Reiki healing
energies become more effective, or say prayers for others.
By sending Reiki, you form a special connection
with the higher being that allows them to send help to you more
easily and in powerful ways. By doing this meditation everyday,
you will be amazed by the results and by the experiences you
will have. It is possible to be taken up into higher states
of consciousness, to have visions, receive healings and be given
special blessings and help on your spiritual path. I highly
recommend that if you are at all interested in this meditation,
that you decide to do it everyday as the results are cumulative
and get stronger as you continue with regular use.

Collarbone Grows Back
I’m so glad to have the opportunity to share this wonderful story
of the transformative power of Reiki. I am a practicing occupational
therapist and have a private Reiki practice in my spare time.
Eighteen months ago, my neighbor’s 14-year-old son was badly hurt
in a motorbike accident. He severely fractured his collarbone,
so that it could not be surgically repaired. A 3.5-inch section
of it had to be removed. Naturally, the orthopedic surgeon told
him and his parents that it would never grow back and he would
have a dysfunctional shoulder and arm for the rest of his life.
I concurred with this from my experience as a therapist, but offered
to do Reiki to speed up the healing of the incision and the general
trauma. I gave him two treatments per week over 6 weeks. Just
before his 6 week follow-up with the surgeon, he said "There’s
something hard here (pointing to his incision). What do you think
it is?" I said it was just scar tissue since that was all
I thought it could be. He had a x-ray later that day, and the
surgeon incredulously announced that he now had a new-collar bone!
The doctor could think of no explanation for this. I was equally
amazed, since I know that the average simple fracture takes 6
weeks just to mend itself.
I asked to see the "before" and "after" x-rays
and they were indisputable. (I also saw the removed section of
the original collarbone that the boy kept as a souvenir in his
freezer.) Since then I have obtained copies of these x-rays and
show them at all my classes and have presented them to various
medical committees at the hospital, in support of Reiki. These
x-rays have done a lot to validate to the medical profession,
the effects of Reiki. Since my presentations, the local hospital
(publicly funded, as all hospitals are in Canada) has agreed to
let me start a 6-month pilot project to provide Reiki on the palliative
care unit.
I strongly urge Reiki practitioners to gather information such
as x-rays, blood tests, etc., whenever they show significant changes
after Reiki intervention. It will really help in making this form
of treatment more believable to unbelievers. Cecile Petra,, Manyberries,

Severe Injuries
Hi. My story is very simple, and starts about
three months ago, on the island of lanzarote when a young boy
of 15 years old was on a motor bike. He was hit going around a
roundabout at night. His injuries were both legs and both arms
broken, both lungs punctured and then one lung removed, part of
his liver removed, fractured neck, and he was on a life support
machine. The doctors gave him a 5% chance of living.
Three days after the accident I sent out requests for Reiki on
the Internet, and I set up a Reiki circle here in lanzarote. I
went into all the bars along the front and asked that on the following
Sunday at 8 o’clock if everyone could light a candle and send
out some nice thought that we maybe able to help. The following
week he came off the machine, two weeks later he was transferred
back to lanzarote and out of danger. A further week later he was
out of the hospital all-together, and three months down the line
he is up and about 95% back to normal. So he went from a 5% chance
to live to 95% healed in three months. I wanted to finish by saying
thank you to all the Reiki healers out there that sent out healing,
and to all those that sent out love. God bless all and keep up

Back from Coma
My brother suddenly got ill one evening and passed out. He was
aspirated and was rushed to the hospital. He was transferred to
the hospital (45 minutes by ambulance) and during this ride his
blood oxygen levels dropped in the area that causes brain damage.
He went into a coma. The first neurosurgeon indicated that there
was probably little hope. His pupils were fixed and dilated. He
had none of the normal reflexes. At one point his eyes rolled
upwards.
I had met a wonderful young lady who had warm hands from a very
young age. She introduced me to Reiki. I brought her to the hospital
hoping to get her in his room. Of course they would only allow
family members. I was a level I Reiki student so I did the best
I could trying not to look to obvious, although there were tubes
and wires everywhere. I touched his crown and elbow. The next
day my girlfriend called the ER waiting room hoping to speak with
me. By mistake they patched her through to my brother’s room and
he answered the phone! He has since made a complete recovery!

Reiki Heals Baby in Hospital
I recently was called to a local hospital to perform Reiki on
a one-year-old baby who was very ill with chronic vomiting. On
a Saturday, I did Reiki on the baby and on his mother and was
guided to do a Reiki attunement on both baby and mother so that
the mother could give the baby Reiki frequently and so the baby
would be more open to receiving Reiki.
The baby had a procedure done under anesthesia on Monday. I called
to check on the baby and his mother reported that he wasn’t coming
out of anesthesia and that his heart rate was up to 230 (normal
is 141 for his age) and his oxygen level was 91 (100 is normal).
There was a nurse in the room monitoring him and he was attached
to some machines that took these readings. They were considering
moving him to intensive care.
I told the mother I had ½ hour to work on him from a distance
since one of my clients had rescheduled. I scanned him and found
blockages in his head, lungs, abdomen, and leg. I did Aura Clearing
and then sent him distance Reiki for 30 minutes. Then I called
back to see how he was doing. His mother reported that his heart
rate had dropped to 150 and his oxygen level had risen to 96.
She said the nurses were amazed as they watched the numbers change
on the monitors. A couple more nurses came in to see what was
happening. As I spoke with the mother, the numbers continued to
improve even after I quit sending Reiki. She reported that the
baby had been given the anesthesia in his leg and it was thought
the needle pulled out of the correct placement and was putting
anesthesia into his tissue, which was why he wasn’t coming out
of the anesthesia. She was amazed that I found the block in his
leg when I did the scanning.
His mother continues to give him daily Reiki and is now taking
my Reiki classes. I am thankful to God for this wonderful demonstration
of the power of Reiki in a quantitative way. May Reiki bless more

Reiki Retreat 2002

We have a fantastic Reiki retreat planned this year!
It will be held over Labor Day weekend, August 30 to September
2. This year it will be at the Iroquois Springs Retreat Center
in the Catskill mountains near Newburgh, NY. Based on past
attendance, we are expecting 250 Reiki people or more. The retreat
is open to anyone with Reiki One training or higher. All schools
and linkages are welcome. People from across the US as well as
many from other parts of the world will be attending.
The retreat is a great place to make new Reiki friends
and to share Reiki stories and info and to exchange Reiki treatments.
In fact, we will have a special club house set up just for Reiki
treatments where you can go at anytime or during scheduled events
to give and receive Reiki.
We also have a great list of presenters including:
Hyakuten Inamoto, a Japanese Reiki master from Kyoto who will
be sharing insights about his pure Japanese lineage, Mari Hall,
a well known Reiki author and teacher, myself, Michael Baird,
Laurelle Gaia and many others. Of special interest will be the
work of Ulla Suokko, a talented flautist and Reiki master who
will be exploring the healing possibilities of music. She will
also be giving live accompaniment to some of the guided meditations.
The retreat is filling up fast, so if you want to
insure your space, I suggest you sign up as soon as possible!
