One of the techniques Dr. Usui taught to his students is called
Gyoshi-Ho. With this technique you can send Reiki to any part of
your own body or to others with your eyes. Just by looking at the
area in need of healing or at another person, you can send Reiki.
This can really be amazing. As an example, a few weeks ago, I was
opening a package with a knife and accidentally cut my finger. First
I washed it in running water, but then remembered Gyoshi-Ho. As
I stared at the wound, I could feel the power of Reiki and something
said, "allow the power to flow" and as I did, I could actually see
the wound healing before my eyes! Another exercise is to sit across
from another Reiki person and send Reiki to each other's hearts
with your eyes, or you could just stare into each other's eyes as
you send Reiki. A strong spiritual bonding can quickly develop along
with deep healing and mystical experiences. This exercise can also
be done while looking into a mirror. You can also send Reiki to
your children while they are playing and I am sure you can think
of many other ways to use Gyoshi-ho.
Here are the instructions:
With Gyoshi-Ho, you can send Reiki to a specific area or to
the whole person with your eyes. As you focus on the area or person,
allow your eyes to relax and become slightly defocused.
As you do this, meditate on Reiki and allow it to begin flowing
from your eyes.
If thoughts arise, gentle brush them aside and return your attention
to the Reiki energy and the area or person it is flowing to.
I encourage you to try Gyoshi-ho, as it is really a vitalizing
way to send Reiki. I'm interested in what you experience, so please
Email me about what happens.

Many believe there is no scientific proof that Reiki and other
forms of spiritual healing work. This makes it difficult to talk
to scientific or medical people about Reiki. Those trying to get
Reiki started in hospitals or clinics are often confronted with
this issue and many of us know of people who strongly resist Reiki
because, according to them, there is no proof. Yet proof exists.
In fact, there are over 124 scientific studies that show positive
results for a variety of spiritual healing techniques. These include
experiments involving people as well as plants and animals. These
studies have been designed using the highest scientific standards
and their results leave no doubt that spiritual healing produces
meaningful results.
This information is available in a new book written by Daniel Benor,
M.D. titled Spiritual Healing, Scientific Validation of a
Healing Revolution. It is wonderfully written and well organized
and contains descriptions of hundreds of scientific studies. Written
for the Layperson, this book is easy to read. The studies are organized
in different categories and include studies on cancer, heart disease,
leukemia, anxiety, pain etc. It also contains descriptions of the
methods and subjective experiences of some of the world's best-known
healers! This groundbreaking book is available now and is certain
to create a revolutionary shift in the acceptance of spiritual healing.
The following is a quote from the Introduction:
"Three branches of healing appear across the ages.20 The first is the natural gift of spiritual
healing, which throughout history has sprung up as a wildflower
bringing its healing essence, unbidden and uncontrolled by human
will, to act as a balm for the ills of body, emotions, relationships
(with other people and with nature) and spirit. This gift has cropped
up spontaneously in the fertile soil of human diversity, sometimes
in the most ordinary of Laypersons, sometimes in those who choose
paths of ministering to physical or spiritual needs of others, and
sometimes in the well-to-do and prominent, even amongst royalty.
In recent decades we have learned to cultivate this flower within
ourselves, sometimes inviting it to appear in the carefully-prepared
soil of our inner being . . . . ."
Many kinds of Reiki have developed in the West since Mrs. Takata
first began teaching. The first of these new Reiki techniques was
called Mari el® which was channeled in 1983 by Ethel Lombardi who
was one of Mrs. Takata's masters. After this came many others including
The Radiance Technique®, Raku Kei, Tibetan Reiki, Karuna Reiki®,
Rainbow Reiki, Golden Age Reiki, Reiki Jin-Kei Do®, Satya Japanese
Reiki, Men Chho Reiki®, Jinlap Reiki, Seichim, Saku Reiki, Blue
Star Reiki, Reiki Plus®, and the list continues. There are now over
30 different kinds of Reiki with many sub groups and branches and
more are being channeled all the time.
Reiki - A Definition
Some people become confused when they hear of different kinds of
Reiki as they believe that Reiki is what Dr. Usui channeled and
any other kind of healing technique should not be called Reiki,
but should have another name. However, we need to remember that
when Dr. Usui was given the new healing technique, the word Reiki
was already in use in Japan. This is why Dr. Usui did not call his
technique Reiki. He called it Usui Reiki Ryoho to make sure people
understood that this was a unique kind of Reiki. With the channeling
of other healing methods similar to Usui Reiki Ryoho, but with different
vibrations and effects, it has become clear that there is a whole
class of healing methods that can appropriately be called Reiki.
With this in mind, how can one tell what is a Reiki technique and
what is not? By analyzing the Reiki given to Dr. Usui, we can discover
four unique qualities that identify the class of healing techniques
appropriately called Reiki.
These four qualities of Reiki are:
The ability to do Reiki comes from receiving an attunement,
rather than developing the ability over time though the use of
meditation or other exercises.
All Reiki techniques are part of a lineage. This means that
the technique has been passed on from teacher to student through
an attunement process starting with the one who first channeled
the technique.
Reiki does not require that one guide the energy with the mind,
as it is guided by the higher power and knows where to go and
how to act all on its own.
Because of this, Reiki can do no harm.
If a healing technique has these four qualities, then it can be
considered to be a Reiki technique."
If any of you have an interest in the origins of Reiki, or would
like to connect more directly to Dr. Usui and his discovery of Reiki,
this video is for you. In it Arjava Petter takes you on a tour to
Dr. Usui's memorial at Saihoji Temple in Tokyo, and to the temples
and shrines on Mt. Kurama, North of Kyoto, where Dr. Usui discovered
Reiki. This one-hour video is a great way to experience the birthplace
of Reiki. It is done in a touring format and directions are given
in case you plan to travel there yourself. Toward the end is a wonderful
montage accompanied by meditative flute music that really captures
the mood and feeling of these sacred Reiki sites. To learn more

The love that comes from the Creator is unbounded and because of
this, there is no limit to the good that can come to those who seek.
The potential that lies within us and around us is waiting to unfold
and is always available to reveal more and to take us to greater
heights. No matter how much we have accomplished or how wonderful
something has become there is always the next step, the next lesson,
the next development. This is especially true with healing and with
Reiki. If we accept this, it makes it possible for us to open to
a greater experience of what healing can be. . . . .
Awakening To A Better World
So often we approach life and its responsibilities with a sense
of struggle. Out of fear we assume that we must diligently focus
on our worries including being ready to defend ourselves against
those whom we imagine oppose us. Yet, the reality is that most of
our worries are based on false assumptions. They usually never happen,
so our energy is dwindled away by needless worry. At other times,
because we believe they are real, without knowing it, we end up
actually creating what we fear or making existing situations worse.
Because of this, a great deal of our time and resources are wasted
on worries that never happen or that didn't exist until we acted
on our fear. This leaves us in a far less resourceful state and
reduces our ability to create the happy, healthy life that we really
would like to have. This process has become so habituated into the
thinking of many that it is not questioned. It is assumed that mastering
this method of doing is the only way to be effective and that there
are no alternatives.
Yet, there is a better way. Karuna is an energy that can lift us
up to a higher understanding and a healthier way of living our lives.
Karuna is an energy that comes from the Creator and also flows toward
us through those higher beings that have become liberated from the
illusion of the material world. This wonderful energy is filled
with compassion for all those that suffer and its intention is to
heal. It is able to heal on all levels including helping us make
the right decisions and helping us attract the healthy things into
our lives we need to enjoy life to its fullest. Karuna energy is
all round us and all we need to do is to be attuned to it and invite
it in for it to begin its loving work in our lives.
Karuna presents wonderful possibilities for our lives, but to follow
this path we must make a choice. In order to fully enjoy the benefits
of Karuna, we must be willing to let go of old ways of doing . .
